James and Margaret raised a family of seven children, four boys and three girls.They resided in Pocahontas till about 1856 when the family moved to Ireland, Lewis County.James was a soldier in the confederate Army.He was captured and when he attempted to escape a gueard knocked him down with his rifle and ran a bayonet through his right lung.He was left for dead, but a soldier came along and pulled the bayonet out and later he came to and crawled into a shack near by where he was picked up by his own company and marched sixty miles the next day.He fought through the war and died at the age of 87 and is burid near Crawford, Lewis County.The Webster RepublicnWebster SpringsSept 15, 1965"Pioneer Settlers of Webster"
