| We do not have much information on where the Low family landed when arriving in the U. S. The story has come down that Seaborn Low was a slave on a ship and managed to escape - settling in Alabama. Supposedly, his name was given him because he grew up on a ship and he was short in stature - thus Seaborn Low. After the Civil War (the family lost their plantation, etc. - everything) his son, John Riley Low, came to Oklahoma. They had cousins by the name of Adair; relatives by the name of Ray Cooper, Sam Weaver, H. H. & Ida F. Hughes, to name a few. Would really like to have any information on any of these families. Am trying to compile a Family History and it has been real difficult with so many missing names and data. |
