I have traced the Broughton line across the southern U.S. and other family branches (listed below) as far back as the 1600's. My webpage [http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Woods/7917] is one way of sharing the information I've collected during 16 years of climbing this family tree of mine. The page focuses on Broughton's who lived in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Alabama in the 1800's. But it also includes links to excellent on-line sources for Broughton researchers, and has information on a 13th century English castle which bears the Broughton name.
I'm also working on a webpage about the Prothro Family (traced back to early 1600's in Wales) which I hope to have up soon.
Other surnames I've researched include:
Walston (Henry Sr., 1768 S.Carolina/Georgia) Clark (Samuel, 1800's Louisiana) Scarborough (William 1670's Virginia) Waldroup (Chris, 1800's Georgia/Louisiana) Brinson (Thomas, 1610 England) Hollingsworth (Henry, 1600 England) Wray (Nicholas, 1600's Ireland) Koonce (Johan, 1675 Germany) Watson (Samuel, 1727 North Carolina)
I would be happy to share any information I have with others... so don't hesitate to write! ************************************************************************************************
I began researching my family at age 13 after my Grandma told me she didn't know her own grandparents' names. I have since located not only their names, but where they're buried, and treasured pictures of her paternal Grandfather and her parents - enabling her to see faces she hadn't seen in decades. I value the time she and I spend visiting the gravesites now, remembering...
"It's who they were that makes us what we are today." ************************************************************************************************
