Juan de Jesus Lucero 1847-1908 Prepared by The Lucero Family at the Lucero Family Reunion in Glorieta, New Mexico on November 26-29, 1998. Maintained by Rachael Lucero descendant of Jose Abelino Lucero. Lucero (meaning "morning star") originated in the Iberian kindom of Aragon. Juan de Jesus Lucero was born in Santa Fe County, New Mexico territory and was brought up to respect hard work and to put a proper value on the dignity of labor. He passed his active years in the pursuits of farming and sheep raising, and died, highly repected, in Mora County in 1908. His wife, Gregorita Griego,passed away in 1895, the mother of four children: Jose Albino owned a successful trucking company in Las Vegas, Juan Bautista, a farmer and cattle raiser of Mora County, Abelino, a prominent merchant, farmer and sheep and cattle rancher of Guadalupita, and Antonina the wife of Matias Zamora, a teacher in the public school in Guadalupita.
