COVERT, HEMPHIL, JONES, CLAPSADDLE: These are the lines I am researching on my mother side. Head of the family would be Smith COVERT, born approx. 1815-1822. Died in 1889-1891 in Olivet, South Dakota. Believed to have immigrated from France to Canda with his grandfather and father. Has been located in 1870 census in MI. Married to Ella CROWDER in about 1871-1872. They had three children: George, Harriet and Rachael. George W. COVERT is my grandfather. b. 1881 d. 1974 in Utica, NE. George married Ada HEMPHILL in 1910. She was the daughter of James Logan HEMPHILL and Rebecca Ann JONES. George and Ada had three children: Floyd, Gertrude and Gladys. CLAPSADDLE is a name my grandfather says his mother last name was Ella, but have not found the connection. WESTWOOD, GREEN: This is my father's line. Head of the line is Joseph E. WESTWOOD, married to Phoebe (?) in about 1850. Believed to have immigrated from England. They had several children and settled in Streator, IL. My father, Glenn E. WESTWOOD, was born in 1911 in Waco, NE. and died in 1975 in Grand Island, NE. His father was George T. WESTWOOD married to Ella Ramsey. My great grandfather Joseph T. WESTWOOD married to Anne GREEN in Steator, IL ran a grocery store called J.T. and Sons Meat Market until about 1920. I have collected many interesting facts and would like to share with someone who would have information on these lines. |
