I'm a novice to the internet, but not to family research. I'm seriously continuing my search on my Yoakum roots that I found as a work in progress by Mrs. George Yoakum. My father found the data in a file she'd given him in the 1940's, and I've been researching since 1990. The search for accurate info on the Yoakums (NY-Pa-Va-Ky-Ala-Tx)1661 to pres. continues...also just starting on Peters (Tx) who married into the Yoakum line in Texas 1890's. My GGGrandfather, John Yoakum was born to George Yoakum/J.Ballew July 4, 1808 in Wayne Co., Ky. He married an Anna or Amy Young in Alabama. My GGrandfather was their tenth child, Foster Sam Yoakum, born in Boonesville, Mississippi on June 23, 1846 and died December 6, 1930 in Rockdale, Milam Co., Texas. I look forward to sharing and hearing from all with similar interests.
