this family tree site will may be help me to find out where my great grand parents originated.I belief that Johan Caspar Lukey came to AMSTERDAM as a locksmith in about1780 from Hagen in county MARK in Germany with the name LUCKEIJ or luckey. Both his father and grandfather and kin lived in Hagen. It is likely that they were related to the luckeys of Twiste in Waldeck.Hessen in germany who were there from about 1600.However considering the history in that time I would not be surprised if the family really came from England or Scotland in late 1500 or in early 1600 as blacksmiths or such with the name Luckey. On my grand mother's side the name de JOODE is common in Amsterdam. and Holland but also may have originated in modified form in Germany as de Jude. On my wifes side her fathers name Knost has originated in germany near Bielefeld and on her mothers side the name SOLLART or Sollaart probably comes via Delft from france at some time prior to 1700 although the name is not unknown in england and there are still some Sollarts in Holland. Any help in answering these questions would be appreciated.
