The Luken Family Homepage
This page was originally created by William Luken (Sr.) who passed away in Feb. 2003.The original text has been retained below in his memory. There are several Luken families in the USA.Perhaps the majority are descendents of Jan Luecken who emigrated from Europe to Pennsylvania in 1683.We are not related to them, as far as we know."Our" Luken ancestors came from the Emsland portion of Lower Saxony in Germany in the period of 1880 to 1920. In Germany, the name was spelled Lüken, but this was changed to Luken in America. William L. Luken (Jr.), e-mail: wluken2-at-earthlink.net ================================================== The Luken Family Home Page features the descendants of our immigrant ancestors who came to Cincinnati Ohio roughly 100 years ago. About 1880 to 1920. Two families homesteaded in Minnesota and with ties to the railroad quickly spread west to the Dakotas etc. Most stayed in the Cincinnati area and were engaged in the dairy business from dairy farming to processing and home delivery. We have been having reunions in Cincinnati for quite a few years. Now and then we skip a year. We have had as many as 500 attendees and as few as 180. Our generation is now 70 years old or older. We hope to spark the next generation to carry on the tradition. William L. Luken (Sr.), Sept. 2000. | The Luken Family Homepage Updated March 10, 2003 |
