I am researching my personal family tree. I have just started, but have made good progress so far.
Most of my family are Scandinavian (particularly Finnish)immegrants that settled in the upper midwest,
particularly in the late 1800's.

Any suggestions on how to research immegration records would be helpful.

Surnames: Luomajoki, Pajunpää, Winquist, Nurmesniemi
Locations: Upper Michigan, midwest, Finland

In particular I have been trying to find more information on the following married couple:
Herman Luomajoki, born 1886, Kärsämäki (?)
Helmi Nurmesniemi, born 1890, Kärsämäki

They were married in Finland and then emmigrtate to Houghton County of Michigan approximately 1910. Their children settled in Houghton and Keweenaw Counties of Michigan.
