| My research has led to some of the oldest families in eastern North Carolina. I have traced the lines of Goodwin's and Lupton's in North Carolina to the mid to late 1700's. Both lines were seafaring families that settled into Carteret County, North Carolina. I am conducting more reasearch that link these family lines to Robinson's and Symon's from Pasquotank County, NC. The Lupton's probably originated from present day Long Island, NY. I have also researched the Ireland's from present day Pamlico County, NC. I am a direct descendent of John Brooks Ireland born in 1812 who married Susan Bateman in 1845 (this was his second wife). There are a lot of Ireland's in the area but I have not been able to establish a definite link from other lines of Ireland's to John Brooks Ireland or who his parents were. Other families in Pamlico County, NC that I have reasearched are the Caraway's, Silverthorne's, and Sanders'. I have traced the Sanders' back to Tyrrell Couny, NC. Most of the research in Pamlico County goes back to records before the county was formed, most notably, Craven County. Another line within my family tree are the Yates' and Garner's. The Yates' are from Jones and Carteret Counties of NC. The Garner's are from Carteret County, NC. The Yates' have been very hard to document and are my biggest challenge. I also have traced a family line of Trisdale from Jackson County, TN. Another line that I do not have much information on are the Boland's. George Boland was a Confederate soldier who married a Garner from Carteret County. He was possibly from Georgia, or Tennessee. |
