Benjamin Leonard Berry = County Banjo Band Member Benjamin Leonard Berry, 69, of Elyria died Wednesday at EMH Regional Medical Center. Mr. Berry was born in Zanesville, Ohio. He lived in the Oberlin/Elyria area most of his life. He worked at General Industries in Elyria as a set-up man for 30 years before retiring in 1992. A singer and gospel musician, he played banjo and guitar for the Lorain County Banjo Band. He enjoyed entertaining the patients of various Lorain County nursing homes with his singing and playing. Mr. Berry is survived by daughters Patricia Tollett and Jean Lydon, both of Elyria; sons Richard L. of Millageville, Gal, Jerry A. of Oberlin and Dan E. of Lorain; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers Chuck and Raymond Berry, both of Zanesville; sisters Violet Morris of Zanesville, Wilda Yosman of Marietta and Burnice Leikins of Winchester, Ind.; and former wife Faye E. Berry (nee Moore). He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lidia (nee Science) Berry, and a sister, Carmen. Friends may call 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Cowling Funeral Home, Oberlin, where services will be at 10 A.M. Saturday. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
