This is The Bruce Lyon Family Webpage. We live in Auburn, California and are researching the ancestors of Bruce A. Lyon and Patricia (Gibson) Lyon. Bruce is a descendant of Henry Lyon who came from Scotland to Connecticut circa 1648 and settled in what is now Newark, New Jersey. Henry's son was Samuel. Samuel's son John (and James, John's younger brother) left New Jersey and settled in Rhode Island. His son Thomas pioneered in Vermont and New York. Thomas's son, also named Thomas, was a pioneer in Chenango County, New York at a place called Lyon's Brook, which is near Norwich. Thomas II was a judge and head of the Chenango County militia. He was killed in York (now Toronto), Canada during the war of 1812. He left a widow and large family, including the youngest son, William. William pioneered with an older brother in Kent County, Michigan. Bruce is the descendant of William's son Richard, who disappeared, possibly to Canada around the turn of the century. |
