John B. Lyons Family Home Page

This family tree contains members from Ireland, Louisiana, Sweden, Finland, New York, Oklahoma, California among others. It is a work in progress.
I have been researching the Lyons and Morrissette families for a few years now. On my wife's side, the Barnes, Mitchells, Richards and Weavers have been included. Most of my research has been word of mouth with relatives. There have been a few trips to the National Archives to search the census reports. My great uncle William O'Hara wrote a book about his mother titled Irish Pride, American Courage, which provided some hitherto unknown insight into my grandmother's side of the family. She was a Neary from Ireland.

We have made a trip to Ireland and had great success locating relatives. The South Mayo ancestry center provided some information that allowed us to find, although unexpectedly, my mother's cousin, Tom Neary and find many Nearys at the first Neary family reunion held at the Welcome Inn in Castlebar, Co. Mayo on August 6-8, 2004.

On the paternal side, I have tracked from my Grandfather Lyons (married to Anna Smith) to Great Grandfather Lyons (married to Nellie Shannon but am not sure I have found my Great Great Grandfather whom I believe to be John Lyons from Redfield, New York.
