Find Family
A never ending work of tracing our roots. This project centers mainly around the LYONS and OBERLIN families of Coshocton, Tuscarawas, Stark and surrounding counties of Ohio. Other surnames of interest include LIND, HOAGLAND, FARKAS, GODWIN and SHRYOCK to name a few. Below are a some more of the many families that we are currently linking into our tree.

Shortly after his marriage to Mary HOAGLAND in 1821, my 3rd Great Grandfather Robert LYONS moved with the HOAGLAND and NEIGHBOR families from Morris County, NJ, to Coshocton County Ohio. There, and later in Tuscarawas County, the family worked on the Ohio & Erie Canal. The LYONS family has since spread out, but some remain in the area. Other branches of this family we are interested in are the VOGENITZ, WEST, STAMM, SHRYOCK, WARNER and WIER families.

My paternal Grandmother was an OBERLIN. We have been able to link into the huge tree put together by many different researchers, making us direct descendents of John Martin OBERLIN, who immigrated from Germany in 1730. Marrying into the OBERLIN family, I've recently found quite a bit of information on the LIND and HASLER branches and we are also interested in the MENTZER, SCHERB, KEYSER, BAIR, and STOBER families.

The latest branch to explore is that of my wife, Dana Louise CARTER. With the birth of our son Aidan Johan LYONS, we've decided to add the GODWIN and associated families to make this project complete for his descendents.

This work is the result of many gracious individuals who have shared their research with me. Thank you to all and I hope that this complation of our history will be of help to you.
