So far our family can be traced back to the village of Swine in Holderness and John Lythe (b.1745 in Preston Holderness). He married Eleanor Tenneson and only one of their six children survived beyond early childhood. Wlliam Lythe (b.05/04/1778) married Hannah Taylor in Swine on 02/05/1804. William & Hannah had seven children and Thomas Lythe (b.22/07/1811) married Elizabeth Thompson (m.06/03/1836 in Walkington). They had two sons and one daughter, Ann, William & Samuel. William Thompson Lythe (b.1849) married Sarah Maria Heppenstall at Kingston-upon-Hull(m.07/07/1868). They subsequently moved to Shadwell in London where he eventually became a police inspector at Scotland Yard. One of his sons Henry (b.1876) moved to North London and this is where my immediate branch of the family remained until 1969 when we all moved to East Kent.
