400. JOHN WESLEY6 MAIB (MORRIS5, ABSOLEM4, PHILLIP3 MABE, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born December 10, 1853 in Missouri, and died June 1928. He married AMANDA JANE ARCHER. She was born November 18, 1859 in Tennessee, and died Aft. 1920.

JOHN WESLEY MAIB 12-10-1853 6- - 1928

The first son of Morris was 23 when he married Amanda Jane Archer on Aug 8, 1876. He is said to have operated a lumber saw mill before he left for McPherson, Kans. Here is first born son, Oscar and his daughter Jessie Victoria died from scarlett fever within three days of each other in 1886. Oscar was nine and Jessie four years old. John left for Portland, Ore. in Oct 1889. On Jan. 4, 1892 he lost his suit for the 78 1/2 acres he felt he was entitled to from his father's farm estate. John stayed in Portland working at a lumber yard and street paving until 1896 when he went to Creston, Washington farming 500 acres. He sold the farm and went Columbia River and Peach Washington where ran a sawmill with Mr. French. John acquired a farm with his son Henry. Finally John went to Post Falls where he retired. He died from a heart attack on Sunday in June 1928. He was 74 years and 6 months old.

401. JAMES WILLIAM6 MAIB (MORRIS5, ABSOLEM4, PHILLIP3 MABE, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born July 25, 1858 in Clay County, Missouri, and died June 03, 1930 in Roy, Harding County, New Mexico. He married MALISSA CATHERINE HICKSON August 16, 1874 in Clay County, Missouri. She was born April 10, 1859 in Holt, Missouri, and died March 14, 1940.

In the 1880 Clay County, Missouri census, James (22), Melissa (26), Verdie (5), William (3), and
Ernest (9 months) are living with James' father Morris.

JAMES WILLIAM MAIB 7-25-1858 7-4-1930
When he was 14 years and 8 months old Kames married his first cousin Melissa Catherine Hixon. She was 13 years and 11 months and was born near Holt, Missouri on the county line between Clay and Clinton Co. Their firstt child, Verdie, was born Dec 12, 1873. James' Mother, Mary C. Hixon, was the sister of Willaim, Melissa's Father. On Jan, 15, 1889 James sold 15 acres of land for $150. On Sept. 20, 1889 Melissa and Aunt Martha Jane and her husband, John Riley, gave her a quit claim for 60 acres for $300. During James' lifetime the family moved westward living at Wellington (Sumner Co.) Kans. where two infant daughters were buried; Anthony (Harper Co.) where their first born was buried - Verdie - in 1925 at the age of 52; Kiowa where their daughter Addie was born; Great Bend (Barton Co.); Roy (Harding Co.), New Mexico in 1917. Their second child, William, born 1877, joined them in 1928. His farm was 5 miles NE of Roy at the old Maib homestead/ James died of apoplexy July 4, 1930. He was 72. Melissa lived with her son, William. Addie was pregnant when contracted lobar pnuemonia and died June 18, 1936. She was buried with her father at Roy Cemetery. Melissa dies at 3 pm March 14, 1940 aged 81 years. Her son Alonzo had died in Geary, Oklamhoma in 1928, In 1843 William died from a heart attack at Roy. Melissa last son, Carl T., died in Lodi, California at the age of 65. One other son, Ernest, born in 1879, is shown with his sister, Verdie, in a photgraph taken about 1888 - both with very blond hair, like their mother's.

402. DANIEL MORRIS6 MAIB (MORRIS5, ABSOLEM4, PHILLIP3 MABE, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born September 27, 1862 in Missouri, and died April 05, 1935. He married ANNIE RIFE MCCALLISTER March 07, 1888. She was born October 19, 1858 in Hagerstown, Pennsyvania, and died March 19, 1930.

DANIEL MORRIS MAIB 9-27-1862 4-5-1936
Daniel was a fine looking young man of 26 and 4 years younger than his wife of Swiss descent when he was married March 7, 1888. She had been born in Hagerstown, Pa. and was a divorcee when she returned to her home in 1882 with son, Charles. She had been married to W.F. McCallister on Dec 23, 1878. On Aug 26, 1889 Daniel and Anna signed a quit claim along with her brother, Henry C., and her sister, Mary M. Rifle, for $3,884.31 to Isabel and Charles and George Rife regarding her inheritance. On Dec 9, 1889 Daniel purchased 160 acres from his neighbor, Ida B. Mitchell, for $3,200. On Oct 23, 1893 Daniel signed a note for $3,000 to Theodor Emerson. On Jan 3, 1903 Annie E. and Daniel sold 80 acres to Robert Don Carlos for $4,500. Daniel was 41 years old. Daniel and his family then moved to Lyndon (Osage Co.) Kans. On Mar 19, 1930 Anna died and on April 5, 1936 Daniel followed her at the age of 74. He is buried at Malvern, Kans. which is nearby. Six of his children are still living. Two have died _ Roy Gilbert of pneumonia in 1895 as a child; John Calvin of a heart attack as he was riding his bicycle while recovering from a case of the measles.

403. AMANDA ADELINE6 MAIB (MORRIS5, ABSOLEM4, PHILLIP3 MABE, JOHN2, WILLIAM1) was born March 15, 1865, and died January 24, 1933 in Topeka, Kansas. She married ARAHAM BARNES CRESWELL April 16, 1886 in Clay County, Missouri. He was born May 03, 1849 in Norborne, Missouri, and died April 08, 1927.

MANDA ADELINE MAIB:

AMANDA ADALINE MAIB 3-15-1855 1-24-1933
SHe was the second daughter and born after four boys. The first daughter, Mariah G., died when she was only one year and 10 1/2 months old. After the boys Morris had six girles before his next and last son was born. In April 1885 Amnada married Abraham Barnes Creswell from Norborne, Mo. He was 16 years older than she. She ran a boarding house in Liberty for awhile and her operated a grocery store around June of 1890. They had been in Norborne (Carral CC) fifty miles east of Libert earlier to have a picture taken, earlier in April 1887, of their son, Robert. Later years found them in Sedalia, Colo. Her husband died April 8, 1927. Her daughter, Mary, had been born in 1889 and her second son, Edgar, in 1900. Amanda died in 1933 and is buried in Emporia, Kans. although her death took place in Topeka, Kans. Her husband's brother, R.W> Creswell, lived until August 1954-99 years and 10 months of age.
