Rada V. Hughes, 93, of Palm Desert died April 30, 2006, in Palm Desert.
She was born April 16, 1913, to Jonny and Minnie Melton in Highlandville, Mo.

She married Elmer L. Hughes on Nov. 16, 1938, in Springfield, Mo.

She worked at General Electric for more than 30 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Joanne "Jodi" Brewster of Palm Desert; two sisters, Roxie Starr of Ontario and Edith West of New York; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hughes, and two sons, Jack Mabe and Joe Hughes.

A memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Stone Funeral Home in Upland.

Burial will be at Bellevue Cemetery in Ontario under the direction of Stone Funeral Home, Upland.

The family suggests that donations be made to Odyssey Healthcare Hospice in Rancho Mirage.

Raymond Allen Mabe, 65, of Oakland, Miss. died Friday at 4 p.m. at the Kennedy Veteran�s Hospital in Memphis Tenn. He had been ill a long time. He was a native of Springfield and lived in Ozark about five years before World War II. He served as an officer in the U. S. Air Force from 1942-1945. He was a service manager for a car agency in Oakland, Miss. until he became ill. Surviving are his son, Raymond Mabe, of Memphis, one brother, C. W. Mabe of Springfield and three grandchildren. Funeral services were at 1:2p0 Wednesday in Harris Chapel, Ozark, with Dr. Paul M. Bolman officiating. Burial was in Springfield National Cemetery with military rites.
