DAISY GERTRUDE AMBURN
BALTIMORE, MD. — Daisy Gertrude Amburn, age 95 of Baltimore, Maryland and formerly of Pulaski, died Wednesday January 14, 2004 in the Northwest Hospital in Randalstown, Maryland. Born November 30, 1908 in Wythe County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Bettie Lou Mabe Amburn and Robert Lee Amburn. She was a retired insurance clerk having worked for the United States Fidelity and Guarantee Company. During World War II, Ms Amburn was an employee of Martin Aircraft in Baltimore. She was a member of the Arlington Baptist Church in Baltimore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Harry E. Amburn, Frank P. Amburn, and Garnett S. Amburn; three sisters: Elizabeth A. Nicholson, Mary Sue A. Irby, and Virginia A. Stilwell. She is survived by two brothers: Robert W. “Watt” Amburn of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Frederic A. Amburn of Winchester, Va. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. A private interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. Visiting will be anytime Saturday after 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 554 Roanoke, Virginia 24003-0554 or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, Pulaski.

ROSA MITCHELL March 13, 1909 in Va., Tazewell Co., Pocahontas. She was born Abt. 1890 in NC., Forsythe Co.. He married (3) JANE GWEN GRIFFITH Abt. 1915 in Fayette County, West Virginia. She was born January 28, 1888 in Denton, Carter County, Kentucky, and died November 03, 1967 in Princewick, Raliegh County, West Virginia.

Hi Jim-
I was contacted by one of Nancy L. Mabe Keesee's descendants through
her son, Nicholas. Alan C. Johns Lerwick, is the stepgreatgrandson -
Nicholas had a third wife - Jane Gwen Griffith of Minden, Fayette
County, West Virginia. From what Alan said, Nicholas and wife two, A.R.
Mitchell known as Rosa, had a son and a daughter. They divorced. The
marriage to Jane Griffith occurred in West Virginia sometime around 1915
- John has not found the marriage certificate. Jane was married before
with three sons and one daughter from that marriage, the daughter is
John's grandmother. Nicholas and Jane had six children of their own and
then preceeded to raise all twelve children.
John has a different date for the marriage to Rosa - March 13,
1909. I am going to recheck the microfilm copy that I saw. He also had
a different date of death for Nicholas - September 1, 1926 in Beckley,
Raleigh County, West Virginia.
Most of the sources we have for the Keesee family are personal
sources, except for that Tazewell County film and Pulaski County film.
Even the portions of a written history sent to me by another Keesee
researcher seem to be from a personal history - so everything needs to
be rechecked against public resources, as we find them. There will
probably be more changes coming as that occurs.
