Died Thursday at his home in Seymour, his death resulting from asthma at age 53. The widow and son survive. He was the son of the late Thomas E. Swain and was born near Pikes Peak in Van Buren Township, Brown County. He was a member of the Christian Church and the K. of P. lodge,

Obituary of Lewis W. Swain

Lewis W. Swain, former Brown County resident, passed away at his home in McNabb, Illinois, Saturday, September 23.

Mr. Swain was born April 17, 1884 in Brown County. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Swain who were residents of Pikes Peak.

After his marriage to Miss Alice Noblitt on January 1, 1905, they lived in Story for some time before moving to Illinois. Four sons and one daughter were born to this union. One son, Denver, preceded him in death several years ago. His wife passed away February 6, 1956.

Survivors are his two sons, Thuri and Dale Swain of McNabb, one daughter, Mrs. Doris Happold of McNabb, one sister, Mrs. Estella Hammond and a nephew, H.F. Lemley of Columbus. Indiana,

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at McNabb with burial there.

Obituary of Nellie Mae Clark

Brown County native, Nellie May Clark, 91, of Route 2 Nashville, died on Monday, September 8, 1980, at Brown County Community Care Center following a ten year illness.

Born on February 7, 1889, to Thomas A. and Harriet J. Mabe Hendricks, she was first married to Curtis R. Wheeler, who died on November 5, 1926.

She then married Alonzo Clark in 1946 in New Bellsville and he died on November 28, 1958.

Mrs. Clark, a former secretary for the Brown County Draft Board, was a member of the New Bellsville Baptist Church, Nashville Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and past matron of Nashville Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving Mrs, Clark are her son, Emerson Wheeler of Route 5 Nashville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren,

A private grave side service was held last Wednesday at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Kritzer officiating.

Funeral arrangements were made by Bond Funeral Home.
