OYE DEAN JOHNSON:
WALNUT COVE - Mrs. Joye Johnson Mabe, 85, of 4208 Hwy. 772, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Mabe was born on May 15, 1920, in Stokes County, the daughter of the late Frank Johnson and the late Gracie Wilkins Johnson.

She had retired from Tultex with over 40 years of service and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion "Dick" Mabe; a grandson, Timothy R. Corns; and brothers Lloyd Johnson and Boyd Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter, Carole Mabe McLester and husband Ray of Harrisburg; sister Medley Tuttle and husband Porter of Walnut Cove; nephews Gray Johnson and wife JoAnn and Jamie and Chris Lackey; nieces Debra Shelton and husband Terry and Sara Lynn Berry; great-nieces Laura and Katie Shelton; and great-nephews Brandon and Eric Johnson and Devin and Damon Rhodes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roy Little and Elder Millard Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 6, at the funeral home, and all other times at the residence. Friends wishing to bring food to the family may bring it to the church fellowship hall before the service and join the family for fellowship and remembrances after the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stokes Reynolds Hospital Acute Care Unit, P.O. Box 10, Danbury, NC 27016. Ray Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of arrangements.

LAWSONVILLE - Mrs. Christine Mabe Lackey, 74, of 1280 Harold Lackey Road died
Friday, March 8, 2002, at Springwood Care Center.

Mrs. Lackey was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Stokes County to the late Elder Carl
T. and Harriett Wall Mabe.

She worked with the Stokes County Senior Citizens Program for a number of
years and was a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Dick
Mabe.

She is survived by her husband, James Harold Lackey of the home; two sons and
daughters-in-law, James T. (Leslie) Lackey of Lawsonville and Chris (Kathy)
Lackey of Graham; two granddaughters, Ashley Lynn Lackey and Leah Marie
Lackey; and a sister-in-law, Joye Mabe of Madison.

Mrs. Lackey will be placed in the church at 9:30 a.m. Monday to lie in state
until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday,
March 11, 2002, at Snow Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Evelyn
Browning officiating. Burial will be in Snow Hill United Methodist Church
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Nelson Funeral Home
Chapel and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Snow Hill United
Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Glenn Robertson, 1032 Moorefield Road,
Danbury, NC 27016.
