Thomas James Vaughan, 65, of Franklin Avenue, Pulaski, died early Monday morning in the Pulaski Community Hospital.
Born in Wythe County, Sept, 8, 1916, he was the son of the late William Vaughan and Mary Mabe Vaughan.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hazel Rorrer Vaughan, two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth King and Mrs. Alyne Nixon, both of Pulaski, two sons, Thomas E. Vaughan and Fredric "Sonny" Vaughan, both of Pulaski; one sister Virginia Summers of Reno, Nev.; two brothers, Houston Vaughan of Clinton, Conn. and Robert Vaughan of Bolton, Conn. and 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Steven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clayton Sweet officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery.
Visiting will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Steven Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial be made to the New River Valley Rescue Squad.

Mary Lucille Edwards, age 64, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at her home in Woodlawn.

Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Mary Robinson Mabe and two brothers, Ernest Mabe and Pete Mabe.

She is survived by two daughters, Regina Hatcher of Pennsylvania and Betty Edwards of Woodlawn; three sons, Charles Hayes and James Hayes, both of North Carolina, and John Hayes of Pulaski; three sisters, Dorothy Martin of Roanoke, Bertha Carson of Marion, and Helen Coley of Wytheville; four brothers, Charles Mabe of Pennsylvania, J.C. Mabe of New York, Hurley "June" Mabe of Marion, and Bill Mabe of Cripple Creek; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 25, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Willard Eversole officiating. Burial followed in Attoway Cemetery in Marion.

Seaver-Brown Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
