MATHEW HILL7 MABE (BERRY MCCOY 'COY'6, DANIEL BOONE5, GABRIEL HENDERSON4, GEORGE3, ROBERT2, WILLIAM1) was born August 24, 1931 in Stokes County, North Carolina, and died April 01, 2003 in Stokes County, North Carolina. He married MARY LEE MARTIN August 09, 1952 in Rockingham County, North Carolina, daughter of CHARLES MARTIN and NANNIE UNKNOWN. She was born 1933.

ATHEW HILL MABE:
DANBURY - Mr. Mathew "Hill" Mabe, 71, went to his heavenly reward Tuesday, April 1, 2003. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by his family and church family.

Mr. Mabe was born in Stokes County on Aug. 24, 1931, to Berry McCoy and Lelia Hill Mabe.

He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member and deacon of Lawsonville Baptist Church, where he spent much of his free time helping out. In 1986, he retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., and was an avid rabbit hunter.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Mary Lee Martin Mabe of the home; two sons, Larry (Sharon) Mabe and Tommy Mabe of Danbury; two sisters, Jane Hardy of Sanford and Ailene (Randolph) Mabe of High Point; four grandchildren, Darrell (Michele) Mabe, Diane Mabe, Tory Mabe and Kayla Mabe; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Hiatt and Katie Hiatt.

We will all cherish his memory until the day we meet again. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, at Lawsonville Baptist Church by the Rev. Donald McHone and Brother Jerry Lankford. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Mabe will be taken to the church at 5 p.m. today to lie in state until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Lawsonville Baptist Church and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Lawsonville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o the Rev. WALNUT COVE - Mrs. Ruth Mabe Anderson, 73, of 5355 Pine Hall Road, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mrs. Mabe was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Forsyth County, a daughter of the late Gabe and Louise Joyner Anderson.

She was a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband Thomas Stewart Anderson of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Susan Anderson, and Nathan and Tina Anderson, all of Kernersville; two sisters, Betty Wall of Walkertown, and Wilma and her husband Arnold Petticord of Walnut Cove; a brother, Donald and his wife Linda Mabe of Walnut Cove; and four grandchildren, Benjamin Anderson, Sydney Anderson, Jordan Anderson and Stacie Anderson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church on Pine Hall Road by the Rev. Wes Austin and the Rev. Jimmy Lawton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville. Memorials may be directed to the Church Graveyard Fund, c/o Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Pine Hall Road, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.

WALKERTOWN - Betty Lou Mabe Wall, 73, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Forsyth County to the late Gabriel Henderson and Clara Louise Joyner Mabe. Betty was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and treasurer of Bethlehem United Methodist Women, and had retired from Wachovia Bank. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Anderson. Surviving are three children, Bruce Wall and wife Debbie of Kernersville, Gary Wall and wife Gina, and Janice Flinn and husband Tim, all of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, David, Samantha, Rachel, Eli, and Davey; a sister, Wilma Petticord and husband Arnold; a brother, Don Mabe and wife Linda; and a brother-in-law, Tom Anderson, all of Walnut Cove. A funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 27, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Elrod officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Walnut Cove. The family requests that memorials be directed to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Pashold and the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for all their support and care that was given to our mother during this time.

MAYODAN — Mr. Harvey Lee Griffin, of 209 4th Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Madison. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery, Eden.

Mr. Griffin was born in Stokes County.

He was a member of Price United Methodist Church, was retired from Fieldcrest Cannon, Inc., and was a World War II Army veteran.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bessie Mabe Griffin; and brother, Otis Bill Griffin.

Survivors include six brothers, Alfred Griffin and E.W. Griffin of Ridgeway, Va., Robert Lee Griffin of Asheboro, Franklin Griffin of Mayodan, Curtis and Walter Griffin of Bassett, Va.; one sister, Elsie Stanfield of Winston-Salem; special friend, Nancy A. Watkins of Stoneville; and several nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times, at the homes of Franklin Griffin, 103 Ayersville Road, Mayodan, and Nancy A. Watkins, 6105 Price Road, Stoneville.
