Mrs. Mozelle Mabe Wall Mabe, 92, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Walnut Cove Healthcare Center. She was born in Stokes County to James William "Will" Mabe and Mamie Mabe Mabe. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and was known as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Brook Cove, and was a cook for Guardian Care Nursing Center. She was a member of Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Horace Wall; second husband James Zelmar Mabe; granddaughter Traci Wall Thornhill; and brother Odell Mabe. Surviving are two sons, William Wayne (Margaret) Wall of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Doug (Kay) Wall of Walnut Cove; five grandchildren, Sharon W. Jones, Kristie W. Patterson, Susan W. Jones, Barry Wall and Betsy W. Shealy; and nine great-grandchildren. A 1 p.m. funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Burroughs Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Jan. 15, at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Doug and Kay Wall.

Elsie Mae Gentry Mabe
Elsie Mae Gentry Mabe, 92, of King died December 1 at Oaks at Forsyth Nursing Center in Winston-Salem. She was born in Stokes County on February 17, 1913, to the late Oscar T. and Carrie Mae Bennett Gentry. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Mabe; two sisters, Irene Smith and Maude Gentry; a brother, Robah Gentry; and a son-in-law; Kenneth Thompson.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Mabe Thompson of Lexington; two sons, Harold Gaynor Mabe of Pfafftown and Conrad Mabe and wife Bernice of Lewisville; three grandchildren, Penny Mabe Acio and husband Arvin, Mark Mabe and Ann Mabe Stamper and husband Terry; five great-grandchildren, Julie Stamper, Michael Stamper, Clint Mabe, Derek Acio and Mallory Acio; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Randy Roberts officiating. Burial followed in Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in King.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Leonard Mabe; a sister, Ruth Emalea Newsome White; and a brother, John Calvin Newsome. UTH GERTRUDE PULLIAM:
KERNERSVILLE - Ruth Pulliam Mabe, 83, formerly of Kernersville and a resident of Brookridge Baptist Retirement Community in Winston-Salem, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center after a year of declining health.

Ruth was born in Stokes County on June 5, 1923, to Grover P. and Agnes Holder Pulliam.

She was a retired bookkeeper for the Tar Heel Triad Girl Scout Council and was a member of First Christian Church in Kernersville. She was the widow of Lawrence O. Mabe and a resident of the Piney Grove community for most of her adult life.

She is survived by three sons, J. Wayne Mabe and his wife Diane of Lewisville, Ned Mabe and his wife Carolyn of Kernersville, Doug Mabe and his wife Linda of Roxboro; a daughter, Tammy McCrary and her husband Kirby of Clemmons; six grandchildren, Tiffany Stark and her husband Anthony of Rural Hall, Austen Mabe of Charlotte, Daniel Mabe of San Francisco, David Mabe of Charlotte, Patrick McCrary and Emily McCrary of Clemmons; and a great-grandchild, Christine Stark of Rural Hall.

The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at First Christian Church in Kernersville. A private entombment service will be held at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory on Piney Grove Road immediately following the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Senior Adult Ministries of First Christian Church of Kernersville or to the Shepherd's Center of Kernersville.
