Margaret L. (Mabe) Collins pension records gives some more detailed
information - James died on September 13, 1903 from heart trouble and
dropsy. Her middle initial is L. The application was completed on
February 20, 1904, claims she is 58 years old - if her marriage age and
census age were right, she would have been closer to 62. She claims she
lived in Wythe County all her life except for two years - didn't say
where they were. Confirmed marriage date - October 9, 1865. James died
in Wythe County and at the time of application she was living with Emory
Cassell in Wytheville - I guess a nephew. She gave James' cause of
death as old age and dropsy - written, "dropsy" looks like "dreams".

Guess none of us will be going to sleep tonight.
