Earl S. Beermann
Earl S. Beermann, 81, of rural Dakota City died Tuesday, July 29, 1997, at a South Sioux City nursing home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Dakota City, with the Rev. Nathan Houfek officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.
Mr. Beermann was born Oct. 17, 1915, in rural Dakota City, the son of Charles C. and Mary C. (Bobier) Beermann. He married Edith DeVore on March 11, 1939, in Beatrice, Neb. He farmed in the Dakota County area, until retiring in 1978.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he was recognized as one of the oldest members and a former member of the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Roger of Dakota City; two daughters and their husbands, Carole and Harold Holmes of Papillion, Neb. and Diane and Larry Schwerin of Harbor Heights, Fla.; a sister, Marjorie Maris of Kerville, Texas; two grandsons, Jim and Bryan Holmes; a great-grandson; and a sister-in-law, Eleanore Beermann of Dakota City.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Loy and Charles; and two sisters, Vera Larson and Ora Morgan.
Pallbearers will be Jim and Bryan Holmes, Rick Claassen, Tom Reed, Dave and Chuck Beermann.
A memorial has been established at Salem Lutheran Church.
