Notes for JESSE BARNES: Trimble County Kentucky 1860 Census; transcribed by Donna Stark Thompson, second edition book published by Trimble County Historical Society with permission by Ms. Thompson. An addition of an index was added, indexed by Virginia Ginn Taylor. Here is a paragraph Donna wrote that is in the front of the 1860 Trimble County Census Book: " The census taker was not consistent in his writing, and some pages were filmed out of sequence, thus it was impossible to list the precinct or area for the families. The listing includes the names Abbottsford; Garretts; Bedford; Winona; and Milton." I felt this information was important in viewing the census information of Trimble County for 1860. Although up to this time she, had been in poor health, often complaining but her friends and love ones though nothing serious and her death came as a great shock to them. Mrs. Mary Lynch was born April 3rd, 1859, and at the time of her death was in her 61st, year. She was the daughter, of Mr. Shadrick and Harriett Barnes. She united with the Poplar Ridge Baptist church in 1884 and lived a devoted life to that faith and was always ready to extend help to the needy and comfort to the sorrowing. Her home was a christian home, and a home where her pastor was always welcome. On October 31, 1888 she was united in marriage to James Lynch, who now surivies her. To this union there were no children born. She leaves to mourn: a loving husband, one brother, Mr. Nathan Barnes, three sisters, Mrs. Eliza Lynch, Mrs. Bettie Garriott and Mrs. Fannie Perkinson, all of this county. It can truly be said of her "she hath done what she could." Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church here Sunday at 12 o'clock by Rev. Vincent, after which the remains were laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Notes for JAMES W. LYNCH: Typied copy of Obit from Virginia Taylor with the Trimble County Historical Society.
