7. BENJAMIN JOHN5 BAKER (JAMES NOEL4, CHRISTOPHER3, WILLIAM2, RICHARD1) was born December 29, 1923 in Ballan, Victoria, Australia. He married NANCY MAY JAMES March 17, 1951 in Creswick, Victoria, Australia.

Notes
      Benjamin John Baker, the fourth of seven children, weighed in at a mere 1lb. (500g) at birth and was not expected to survive. His parents smeared him with olive oil, wrapped him in cotton wool and used a shoe box as a bassinet. At three months of age he gave a "yell", which his father thought to be his first and last, however from that moment on Ben never looked back.
      He went to school at the Ballan and Smeaton State Schools, and was employed n arious occupations, including farm hand, digging potatoes, P.M.G. and forestry departments, rabbito, wood merchant and superphosphate contractor.
      During the 2nd World War he served with the 151st A.G.T. (Australian General Transport).
      uring his courtship with his wife, Nancy May James, one of his antics was to sit up in a tree and throw apples at her as she passed by on her bicycle.
      When he retired, Ben began designing and producing Whirly-gigs (wind driven models) which he sells from is workshop on the Glenelg Highway at Westmere, Victoria.
      Ben is a respected and well liked resident of the Westmere, Lake Bolac and Streatham District. Known for his sense of humour and practical jokes. He enjoys fishing and is a social member of the Lake Bolac Bowls Club.

9. GORDON WILLIAM5 BAKER (JAMES NOEL4, CHRISTOPHER3, WILLIAM2, RICHARD1) was born December 31, 1926 in Ballan, Victoria, Australia. He married FLORENCE ISOBEL SANDERS June 05, 1948 in Creswick, Victoria, Australia, daughter of Joe Sanders and Elsie.

Notes
      Gordon, the youngest son and sixth in a family of seven, left school at the age of 14 to start his working life. He took up rabbit trapping, worked for a time at the now historic and restored Smeaton Mill and learnt many aspects of farming life working around the districts of Allendale and Smeaton on various farms.
      Gordon also worked as a fruit picker at Mildura and worked for a time at Ryalls Sawmill in Creswick.
After their marriage, Gordon and Florence moved to the Western District of Victoria, where rabbits were plentiful, wages good and homes were free to those who worked on large holdings. 'Mount Elephant' and 'Derrinallum South' and 'Weering' were the names of sheep stations where he was well respected as being a loyal worker.
      Leaving station life behind them, they set up their own business of Contract Agriculture, comprising superphosphate spreading, a wood yard and supplying and carrying scoria, sand and gravel. They had a petrol agency at one time and were agents for 'Field Air' aerial spraying for ten years.
      On retirement, they bought a place on the Murray River where fishing is a great pastime. Due to failing health they sold their river assets and bought a home at Lalbert, which is close to Swanhill and various rivers which provide for fishing and boating.

10. JOAN MARGARET5 BAKER (JAMES NOEL4, CHRISTOPHER3, WILLIAM2, RICHARD1) was born April 23, 1932 in Ballan, Victoria, Australia. She married JOHN SHELTON September 27, 1952, son of Thomas Shelton and Jane Hartup.
