Researhing Mac/McLeods from Lewis, migrating to North Uist,Scotland and then to Cape Breton; also Mac/McDonalds from North Uist,to Nova Scotia (most circa 1830 - 1864). Most known ancestors (emmigrating from North Uist) were born in New Boston, (AKA "Rocky Boston"), Cape Breton, N.S. with numerous links to Boston, Mass., USA. Also Mac Leods, McDermids from Loch Lomond, Richmond County, C.B., N.S.; also originating from North Uist (connections to Pabbay and Berneray). Other surnames - MacIssac(Mira), MacAskill(Framboise, Canoe Lake and Mira area). Newfoundland surnames:- Coombs, Drover (Upper Island Cove), Kelland (Trinity Bay), Bragg, Poole, Young, Drake (Channel-PAB, Burnt Islands, St. Jacques and Belleoram, Kendall. I would be pleased to exchange information and to learn anything about the settlement of New Boston, Cape Breton during or before the early 1800's. Photos of people and places in or from New Boston would be most welcomed! |
