Most of the information on these families is on Hamish Maclaren's home page (see link below) and for now at least this page will be used for Reports etc that will not fit on that site.
The idea behind this page was to gather more information about these two families, Birtwistle and Maclaren, and the families with whom they are related, such as;Kirby, Mclachlan, Wall, Marwood, Sandys, Abney-Hasting/Loudoun, Barnewell/Trimleston, Preston/Gormanston, and more as the information becomes available.
The "William de Botreaux. Baronies of Botreaux, Hastings, Hungerford & de Molyens, Earls of Huntingdon" report is there because on the 18th generation they marry into the Earls & Countesses of Loudoun family which includes Maclarens. See Hamish's family tree page.
The "Sandys of Graythwaite" now include Birtwistles.
Apart from just names and dates, which could well be seen as very boring by some, (maybe even most), we were hoping to get more information about the individual relatives, such as family stories(perhaps not too personal, but then again), life histories, obituaries, press cuttings, etc.. So any contributions will be very welcome and much appreciated.
It is hoped to make this family file available to family members when it is more complete/accurate, however if anyone wants what we have now, it can be E Mailed in various formats (currently about 6MB in Family Tree Maker v7 format, much smaller in others but you tend to loose some information), or for some other method, contact Hamish Maclaren, Simon Maclaren, or Hugo Kirby etc. You probably have their phone numbers, addresses etc.
