1. JOHN1 STORM was born 21 Jan 1722/23 in Germany, and died 01 Jan 1805 in Taneytown, Carroll Co, MD. He married MARIA ELIZABETH TANNER, daughter of MICHAEL TANNER and MARIA. She was born 09 Mar 1729/30 in Walldorf, Germany, and died Bef. 1815.

Some difference of opinon as to birth date year; as his age (Y M D) is below ground

He could be the youngest son of Christian and Anna Barbara Gah Sturm of the Schifferstaft Sturms from Frederick, MD. The family was Catholic in Germany but only John remained a Catholic in the USA. Barbara's age makes this questionable.

1753 - Purchased "Howser's Choice" (110 acres) from Martin Howser and his wife Margaret with all trees, woods, underwoods, houses, out houses, orchards, fences ten pounds. Wit: Samuel Wickham, Thomas Lilly
1 Jul 1760 - purchased "Nan's Purchase" 100 acres part of tract called Resurvey on Hopewell 24 Jun 1760 from Joseph Norris for 50 pcm.
1 May 1764 - [John Sterm] Purchased cows and horses from Michael Miller.
1774 - Purchased "Resurvey on the Pines" and "Addition to the Pines" from Charles Carroll.
12 May 1775 - Purchased "Piney Grove" from father-in-law, Michael Tanner. This land was next to "Owings Chance".
Oct 1780 - Sold a lot #17 in Taneytown, Maryland to Jacob Good.
Nov 1780 - Sold land of Michael Tanner (per will) to George Kelly in Taneytown, MD.
22 Dec 1787 - Involved with a deed confirmation from Samuel Owing on "Miller's Chance," which Michael Tanner had originally obtained in 1770 from Owings.
1790-3 - Had mortgage with Raphael Brooke on "Brothers Agreement".
1796 - Sold parts of "Troublesome Job" and "The Resurvey on the Pines" to son Joseph.
23 Sep 1793 - deed Troublesome Job 398 acres
19 Dec 1795/Recorded 2 Jan 1796 - Sold to son Joseph for 300 pounds "Troublesome Job" by "The Resurvey on the Pines" and wife Elizabeth signed away her dower rights.
4 June 1798 - Purchased 100 acres "The Resurvey on Brothers Agreement" from Roger Brooke
16 May 1803 - Purchased a Bay Gilding, five years old, 15 hands high, for $60 from Harbert Smith.

Abstract of will of JOHN STORM:

I JOHN STORM of the County of Frederick and State of Maryland considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound and perfect and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) FIRST I give and bequeath unto my Dear beloved Wife ELIZABETH the Sum of Three Hundred pounds in Gold or Silver to be paid to her by my Executors herein after named of the first money that my Exc. Shall receive of my Estate and two Beds and a Bedstead two Cows, two Sheep, all the Linnen in the Closet all the Beehives and ? and the third part of the Kitchen furniture and I do further give and bequeath to my said Wife during her life the Dwelling & House I now live in The Stables near the Same the Two Gardens near the House the mow in the Barn which I usually reserved to myself and the Liberty of the spring and Spring House Also the third part of all the produce of my Dwelling Plantation lying in the county of Frederick aforesaid and being the same which I now live in the Grain to be Divided in the Shoaks and to be carefully put into her mow in the Barn and then to be thatched for her, the Hay in to be Divided in the meadow and her part to be put in the mow on the Stables and all the rest of the Other Produce to be Delivered to her in the house? or on any part of the Premises she may order ... to be Delivered at her Door. It is my will and I do order that my Executors do not dispose of the aforesaid Plantation during the lifetime of my said beloved Wife and that they do deliver or cause to be delivered yearly and Regular my wifes part of the Produce as aforesaid during the time of her Natural life and after her Decease to be Sold by my Exectors. It is my will and I do order that the land lying in the County of Huntington State of Penn. which is Part of my real Property to be equally Divided by my Executors among my Eight Children [Viz] JOHN, JOSEPH, PETER, MARY, CHRISTOPHER, ELIZABETH, JOAKIM and MAGDALINE my Personal Property likewise to be equally Divided among my children aforesaid but if not convenient to be sold by my Exec. and the Money arising from the sale of my Dwelling Plantation to be Also Equally Divided as aforesaid and I do hereby Impower my Extors. herein after named to make good and Sufficent Titles for the several parcels of land as well as to the Purchaser of my Dwelling Plantation And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my Trusty son PETER STORM and my beloved Son in law JACOB ADAMS Executors. States that the widow ELIZABETH was deceased. Money received of JOHN ROSS KEY returned Desperate. [This seems to be the settlement of Elizabeth's estate also] BOND & NOTES left by ELIZABETH STORM deceased (widow of said deceased). Bond on PETER STORM, BLOSEY NOELL, JOACHIM STORM, JACOB ADAMS, CHRISTOPER STORM, JOCOB LITTELL, The Bed & Clothes of said Widow deceased and note on STANSBURY. Also with WILLIAM ADAMS two Bonds to THOMAS LILLY assigned to the late JOHN STORM deceased 4 Oct 1796 for 63.2 payable after the decease of MAGDALENA ADAMS, late Widow of THOMAS ADAMS, without Interest, heretofore returned Seperate. Money paid to Elizabeth the widow by JACOB BROTHERS, JACOB SNERRINGER for digging grave, LAWRENCE GUBERNATER, PETER GOUGER, JOHN DEISERT for coffin, JACOB SMYTH, ANDREW WILL, WILLIAM ROSS, JAMES CARSON, JAMES MARK, JAMES MELOY, WM MERRYMAN, GEORGE CREAGER late Sheriff, BLASEUS NOEL.
