OHN HARRISON MADDOX:
John Harrison Maddox and Paralee sold land to (W.A.?) Boren (part of the Boren Survey - Israel Boren) on November 17, 1874 in Collin County, Texas.

Uncle Paul Maddox used to say that John Harrison Maddox was the meanest man he ever knew...Don't know why?

John Harrison Maddox served in the Civil War along with several of his brothers. He enlisted on January 26, 1862 at Pilot Grove in the 9th Texas Cavalry, Company C, Sims Regiment. According to his muster rolls there were several times that he was sent as a scout by General Jackson.

John Maddox is listed on the "Registered Voters of Hunt County, Texas 1867-1872" by Mary Frances Igmire as:
pg 859 John Maddox Miss. John Maddox Gone Oct. 1872
Also listed is his brother as:
Pg 857 James M. Maddox Miss. James M. Maddox Gone 1872

On the marriage certificate of John and Paralee is the following spelling of their names:

ARALEE BOREN:
On Paralee's headstone her birthdate is recorded as January 12, 1854, but I do not think this is correct. It would have made her 12 years old when she married John Harrison Maddox. They are buried side by side in the cemetary. I am basing my theory on the 1850, 1860, and 1870 Census records, which would prove she was born in 1848, according to her age on each census record.

Notes for S
ARAH F. ROWSEY:
This picture of Sarah Rowsey was given to me by Mary Maddox Goulden's granddaughter. On the back of the picture was written the name of Paralee Rowsey. This is not Paralee Boren. John Harrison Maddox married Sarah in 1898 when he was 58 and she was much younger then he was. Paralee was only 8 yrs younger than John.
