| I am continuing reseach of the Fetzer families that settled in the Wayne County area of Ohio from 1831 to 1840. They emigrated from Steinselz using the port of Le Havre for their departure. My Descendants Chart is based on the booklet "Homeland In Canaan" A History and Genealogy of the Fetzer Family by Lister O. Weiss and Edna M. Fetzer dated 1941, with new additions and updates provided from the worksheets of family members. The family name Fetzer probably originated from a long line of "weavers of cloth" as the German word "fetzen" means a piece of left over goods, consequently, "Fetzer" one who makes or handles a "fetzen". Other family names I am researching are: Gochnaur/Feightner families from Germany/Wayne County, Ohio; the Stuzynski family from (Polwiosek) Stary (Stari),Sacz, Poland/Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania/Cleveland, Ohio; the Skowronsky family from Tarnopil, Ukraine/Cleveland, Ohio; the Pavluk (Pawluk)/Ewasyczyn family of Rohatyn (Zalipie), Ukraine/Pittsburgh, PA. and the Magyar/Mikula/Zarka family of Budapest, Hungary and Cleveland, Ohio. |
