| I am researching John Redman Magness. He took his family from Independence County, Arkansas, to Oregon in 1854. They went across the Oregon Trail in covered wagons and settled in the Salem area. John was decended from Perrigrine Magness, born 1722 most likely in England, as are almost all of the Magness clan that spell the name this way. Perrigrine (there are a number of spellings of his name) had fourteen children and so there is a vast network of Magness cousins in the world.I am also looking for anything on Virginia Weiss (possibly Wise) Byrd. She was John's wife. They were married in Arkansas. Also looking for John Byrd who was Virginia's father born about1797 in, I beleive, Kentucky, and died in 1824 in Batesville, Arkansas. John, so far, has been a brick wall to me and many other Byrd and Magness researchers. |
