The Clarence Maggard FamilyUpdated September 5, 2000 |
|
| Welcome to the Clarence Maggard family homepage. Clarence was a native of Leslie County, Kentucky, (b.1909, d.1997). His sixth-great grandfather, John Maggard, was of Germanic origin, born Hans Magert in 1690. Samuel Maggard, one of his two sons - (the other was David Maggard) - moved into the region of now Letcher County, Kentucky, in the 1730's and then into Leslie County in the 1770's. A book by Leslie County educator and attorney, Hays Lewis, Entangled Roots (1990; Kentucky Imprints: Berea, Ky.) outlines several Maggard-family connections. Other family trees listed in Entangled Roots include Baker, Bowling, Campbell, Clark, Coots, Day, Garrison, Kilburn, Lewis, Pennington, Roberts, Williams and Madden-Yates. As one of Clarence Maggard's three children, and Hans Magert's seventh-great grandchildren, I am interested in developing a detailed history of the family's life and times, including anecdotes, legal information, rumor and hearsay. Please contact me by E-mail or mail to obtain, provide or trade information about individuals named Maggard, Maggert, Magart or any possible variant thereof. |
