Greetings! Welcome to our Home Page. In time, we will be uploading all of the information about the Maitlen/Maitland family that we have been able to assemble from around the world.
We are still looking for any information about the Maitlen family. If you have any information you are willing to share, please contact Larry Maitlen at the e-mail address listed here on the site.

I am researching the MAITLEN family from Greene County, OH via Sussex County, VA. Isaac N. Maitlen/Maitland/Medlen and Sarah Fiers where married in Sussex Co., VA. 17 December 1804: marriage of Isaac MEDLEN and Sarah FIERS, dau. of John FIERS. Sur. Thomas ROWLAND. Wit. Thomas CHAPPELL and Robert CHAPPELL. p. 116, in Marriages of Sussex County, Virginia 1754-1810. by Catherine L. Knorr 1952.

In 1805 Sarah and her husband, Isaac left Sussex Co., VA with Sarah's father, John FIERS and family to settle in Greene Co., OH. They were among the very early settlers in the "Union Neighborhood", a settlement of devout Methodists.

Isaac apparently came from Scotland. His father is listed as Isaac N. Maitland Sr. of Scotland, but we're not certain where in Scotland, nor have we had any fortune so far in identifying him.

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
