The following home page includes information on the descendants of CONRAD, WILLIAM FRANCIS, and PETER W. MAILANDER. These three brothers came to America from the town of Wolperth/Neunkirchen, Siegkreis, Prussia in 1849...located about 30 miles southeast of Cologne. Their parents were HEINRICH MAILANDER and MARIA ROTH. Henry's parents were WEIMAR MAILANDER and CATHARINE SONTGERATH. Maria's parents were GERALD WEIMAR ROTH and VERONICA MARGARETHA RIPPERTZ. Conrad and William F., as well as their brother Peter W., settled in the Illinois counties of La Salle (Peru and Dana) and DeKalb (Somonauk). Their descendants now live in the states of Illinois, Iowa, Colorado, Wisconsin, Pennylsvania, Louisana, Colorado, Nebraska, Utah, California, and Alaska, just to name a few.

***Please take a look at the family group picture noted as Conrad Mailander Family @1901 taken in Somonauk, IL. I really need help to accurately identify everyone in this photo. I think with some help with photos you may have, we can identify everyone.

I have done additional research on the surnames of: Kuehlem (see below), Cobia (South Carolina, Utah), Morris (Utah), Isaacs (Indiana, Missouri, Kansas), Ferris (Iowa, Ohio, New York), King (Iowa), Curristan (Donegal Ireland, Michigan), and Klupp (Banat area of Yugoslavia (Hungarian Empire) and Michigan). Details on these names are not found on this web page, however, I would be happy to share information.

To contact me...please post your queries on the rootsweb Mailander message board. You may need to sign up for a free account through rootsweb/ancestry.com/myfamily.com to post a question. You can also subscribe to message board by sending an email to: MAILANDER-L-request@rootsweb.com with the single word "subscribe" in the message subject and body. This will allow you to receive emails regarding any questions that are posted on the Board. It isn't a very active board as some surnames, but trust me...I will get your message. Thanks.

  • Conrad Mailander Family of Somonauk @1901 (1 KB)
Family of Conrad Mailander and Margaretha Kuehlem. We believe that this photo was taken in honor of Conrad and Margaretha's 50th wedding anniversary in April 1901. Not everyone has been exactly identified. We need your help. Look to see if what I have is correct. First row of three girls in front: Mary Louise Sauer ?, Luella Sauer ?, Zella Mailander. Children seated L to R: Harold Steinwart ?, Ellen Mailander, Cyril H. Mailander, Wilbert Mailander, Cecil Steinwart ?, unknown (previously thought to have been Luella LaBolle), unknown person, Lucille Bochtler, Theresa Mary Sauer ?, Harold Bochtler, Genevieve Steinwart ?, Loretta Mailander ?. Third row seated women L to R: neices Anna and Lena Mailander ?, Agnes Kennedy Mailander, Mary Brignon Mailander, Louise Mailander Sauer ?, Conrad, Margaretha, Caroline Mailander Mathis ?, Mary Gertrude Mailander Labolle, Annie Catherine Bochtler ?, Sophia (Groolemand) Mailander or this could be Margaret Mailander Steinwart. Back row L to R: Herbert Eugene Mailander, William Conrad LaBolle, Ruby Louise LaBolle, Edward Charles Mailander, Celestine Mary Mailander, Henry Mailander, Christian Steinwart ?, Boniface Sauer ?, Fr. Kalvelage ?, Minnie Schupmann Mailander, Fr. Huth ?, William Peter Mailander, Eugene Mathis ?, John B. LaBolle, William Bochtler ?, and Charles Mailander. As you can see, I may not have the names of the daughters exactly lined up. A newspaper article about the event noted that Charles came with his daughter Lauretta, based upon time period his wife was expecting Clarence, so not likely to have traveled from Rockford. Very sure of the Henry's children as well as the Bochtler and possibly some of the LaBolle children since we have other pictures of them. I have been informed that Mary Gertrude Mailander LaBolle's youngest daughter Luella LaBolle was not in this picture, unsure why she would not have been there. I am also positive on the William P. children. Guessing on the rest.
