In Memory of Letha Mae Darr (Aunt Snookum)--by Donna Sue Norman Brown
Aunt Snookum was a great woman in my life. She was full of emotion and much love. When I remember back about her, I can't help but smile. She was always able to find time to really talk to me. I always loved to hear what she had to say. I always thought of her as my eccentric aunt. She was full of unique attitudes and personality. She was a truly gifted hostess. I remember looking forward to going to her house for Stanley parties and family visits. She always had something from "old times" that she would tell me about, like fresh goat's milk. She showed me how to wash clothes on an old manual washing machine where I used something similar to a cheese grater and then wrung out the clothes. Aunt Snookum understood that the most important investment was people. I am rich from how she invested in my life. Too bad I didn't always take her advise. She would tease me, "When you marry, make sure you marry for money instead of love." She was always looking out for me.
