There are conflicting birth and death dates for Francois.  His tombstone in St. Michael's Cemetery reads that he was born on Mar. 19, 1791 and died on Aug. 19, 1860.  In the History of St. Martin Parish, page 148, in an article contributed by Amber Jane Landry Dwyer, his birth date is listed as Mar. 26, 1789 and his death date is listed as May 16, 1866.  Bert de la Houssaye also has the same dates as Amber Dwyer.  (Need to find substantial proof of birth and death dates.)

At the time of Alfred's birth, his parents were not recognized as husband and wife by the Catholic Church; therefore, their children were considered to be illegitimate.  Alfred's sister, Basilisse, was the oldest child, being born in 1816, and she was the first to be baptised in 1826, so their parents' marriage was probably blessed by the Church sometime in 1826.  I believe that they were actually married Abt. 1815.
