	1.  John1 McFarland was born Bet. 1770 - 1780 in Scotland, and died Bef. 1850 in Franklin Co., MS.  He married Sarah /?/ (Wife of John McFarland).

Sarah is listed on the 1850 Franklin Co., MS Census (p. 30, dw. 419, fm. 419) as head of household; therefore her husband, John, is dead by that time.  Sarah's daughter, Mary, is also listed in the household for this census.

	2.  Mary2 McFarland (John1) was born October 1811 in Louisiana or Mississippi, and died Bet. 1900 - 1910 in Sabine Co., TX.

Notes for Mary McFarland:
Family history states that after the father of Mary's son, Lewis P., died in the Civil War (Abt. 1861-1865), she packed her son and her belongings on two pack horses and traveled from Mississippi to Zwolle, LA to live. (It has also been told that Mary was indentured to Lewis's father for money that her father owed to him when he died and that she was not married to him.)

On the 1860 Census of Franklin Co., MS, Mary is listed in the household of her mother, Sarah McFarland. Mary's son, Lewis, is also listed in this household.

On the 1870 Census of Rapides Parish, LA, Mary is listed in the household of Gabriel Pickering, her sister's (Alice's) husband.  Mary's mother, Sarah, is listed in the household next door - Farris Blackman's household.

On the 1880 Census of Vernon Parish, LA, Mary is in the household of John Martin and wife, Sarah F. Pickering.  Mary is called "wife's aunt."

In the 1900 Sabine Co., TX Census, Mary is listed in the household of her son, Lewis P. McFarland.  She is 88 years old at the time of the census and is listed as being a widow who was born in LA on October of 1811.  In the 1910 Sabine Co., TX Census, Lewis P. lists his mother's birthplace as MS, so where Mary was actually born is still a mystery.

Mary lists her parents as being born in South Carolina.
