Marguerite Lehays (Le Hus ou Lehus)
Was the daughter of John Lehaus and Mary Swarton of New England (USA). These two persons were taken as hostages during a raid of marauding Indians and brought to Quebec city. Normally if these hostages survived the return trip, they were ransomed by the French Authorities in Quebec and allowed to settle in Quebec. John Lehaus married Mary Swarton In Quebec in 1697 and eventually settled in St Laurent now a suburb of Montreal. They had 13 children in their country of adoption.
