~Mansolillo/Sormanti Family Tree of Rhode Island~

Updated February 2, 2012

I am Anthony Salvatore Mansolillo. I am 15 and an experienced genealogist of my family. I have successfully traced back the Mansolillo line to the late 1770's and I have amassed more than 1300 individuals on the family tree I made on Ancestry.com. The families I research are the Mansolillo, Sormanti, Fusco, Uccello, Grasso, Simonelli, DelBonis, and Pesaturo families. The Italian comuni that these families hail from are Panni, Ceprano, Itri, Canicattini Bagni, Pontecorvo, and Prata Sannita.

I am creating this website in the hopes that I can find people that may know more about certain individuals or families. If you happen to know something or wish to inform me, you may contact me through the supplied email address. Naturally, I have information on living people set to private. If you wish to know the information, email me and I will share said information with you.

--Information on the Mansolillo family--

Nicola Mansolillo was born about 1851 in the comune of Panni in Foggia, Puglia. He was married to Maria Moreno, who was born about 1846. They had seven children: Celestino, Domenico, Anna, Giovann'Angela, Luigi, Antonio, and Giovanni. Anna was presumably married to a Michele DeLuca and died around 1918 during an epidemic in Italy. Giovann'Angela is said to have died as a young adult. Celestino, Domenico, Luigi, Antonio, and Giovanni immigrated to America. While Celestino, Domenico, Antonio, and Giovanni settled in Rhode Island, Luigi settled in Connecticut. Celestino was a builder and fell to his death in 1904 at the age of 26. In memoriam, his brothers each named a son after him. Domenico married Assunta Carchia, Luigi married Anna Maria Croce, Antonio married Giovannina Grasso, and Giovanni married Giovannina's sister, Maria Grazia Grasso.

In his elderly years, Nicola Mansolillo had a child with the much younger Maria Grazia Gesualdi, who was born in 1910. Their son was named Nicola and was born in 1938. His father Nicola died that same year, it is said. The son Nicola later married a woman named Luigia Bocchicchio and had two children. However, in 1963, Nicola killed his wife with an axe after a series of arguments. He was later incarcerated and was eventually released.
