The information included here is taken from a book, "Gardner, McAnallen, Ralston and Fehrenbach Family History", compiled by me and published in 2004 by VirtualBookworm.com.

My great-great-great grandfather, James Gardner, appeared in Butler Co, PA by 1815. Where was he born and who were his parents? Trying to solve that mystery has been similar to working a large jigsaw puzzle with half the pieces missing and with pieces from other puzzles included in our pile of pieces to search. James may have been a part of the William and Sarah Hamilton Gardner family that moved from Maryland to Westmoreland Co, PA, before or during the Revolutionary War. However, no proof of that has been found.

The search for James Gardnr's parents goes on. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
