I am currently searching for parents of Benjamin Davidson Brown. He was born in Va. in 1778 and died in Ripley Co. Indiana in 1860. He married Mary "Polly"Poe 19 March ,1800 in Garrard Co. Ky. She was born in Va. in 1779 . They settled in Ripley Co Indiana in 1816. Her father was William Poe/Powe a Revolutionary War veteran. He also settled in Garrard Co. and also applied for his pension in that Co. he was an early settler in Ky. as he shows up in early tax records and in the Va. 1790 census as living in Lincoln Co. Va. Which became part of Ky. in 1792. He married a 2nd wife Jesusha Brown daughter of Joseph Brown also of Garrard Co. in March 1789. My search is for the father and family of Benjamin D. Brown Sr. I have found records of land transactions between Benjamin D. Brown Jr. and Benjamin D. Brown Sr. He may have had a brother by the name of Payton Brown. also a daughter named Lucy who married James Haggard, and another daughter named Judy who married a Benajah Brown. There may have been a 2nd marriage between Benjamin D. Brown Sr. and Elizabeth Ross.He is th eonly Benjamin Brown mentioned in the early records for Lincoln Co. Va./Ky. A Ben. Brown shows up on a 1787 ttax list for Madison County.
Both Benjamin Sr. and Benjamin Jr. show up on the 1800 tax lists for Garrard county. My Benjamin Davidson Brown Sr. would have been born between 1740 and 1750. I do have copies of early documents on the Garrard Co. Brown family. Also a lot of information and documents on Benjamin D. Brown Jr. after he settled in Indiana in 1816.
