The WALKERs and MANTOOTHs of Texas

I am hoping that this website will bring to together the pieces of the family puzzle. I do know that I have a great, grandfather by the name of Smith WALKER and that he married Verlinda MILLER in Indiana. Smith WALKER was born on March 21, 1861 in Edwards Port, Knox County, Indiana. His parents’ names are Thomas WALKER and Jane SKINNER. I do not have any other information than that at this time. I will respond to all emails and as information comes in, that I can verify, I will add it to the site. This site will be an on going process for a very long time.   This 1860 Indiana Census shows a Thomas WALKER in the area about a year before Thomas WALKER married Verlinda MILLER. I am in hopes that someone can tell me if this is my Thomas WALKER.

  Thomas WALKER married Jane SKINNER and had Smith WALKER, born March 21, 1861, who married on August 28, 1886, Verlinda Jane MILLER, born July 02, 1860. Smith and Verlinda WALKER are the great grandparents of Jeanne WALKER MANTOOTH. I am currently trying to find the parents of Thomas WALKER. I know that it is traced back to a Norse man, who married an English woman and he took her last name, since he had no last name. At this time, this is what I have.

  The parents of Thomas A. MANTOOTH have come into question. I have found two sets of parents for Thomas A. MANTOOTH, both sets lead back to Thomas (Cherokee Tom) MANTOOTH/MANTEITH. Thomas (Cherokee Tom) MANTOOTH/MANTEITH was the son of John MANTOOTH/MANTEITH and a Cherokee Indian, upon John's and the Cherokee Indian's marriage his brother James MANTEITH disowned him. Gentleman Thomas MANTEITH, born in 1694 in Glasgow, Scotland, wife Phillis GALLOP, was the father of John MANTOOTH/MANTEITH and James MANTEITH. Could anyone point me to the correct parents of Thomas A. MANTOOTH. Thank you.
