| Many stories surround the Manuel family history and with each comes some controversy. Originally, the North American branch of the family can be traced to a group of brothers that landed on Exploits Island off the coast of Newfoundland. There are differing stories--were there 5 or 7 brothers? did they come from Scotland or England at that point? what year did they really arrive? were they once banished from Portugal? I have just started a more in-depth study of the Manuel family tree and intend to find some truths and more interesting stories. I am also interested in finding more out about the Chemilnisky and Gozelny families--these two are a little more difficult to research as spelling varies and some names were changed upon entering Canada. If you have any information about any of these families please contact me. Thank you! |
