| I am researching ancestors of my mother, Mildred Rita SMITH, born December 26, 1919 in Newton,MA. Her father was James Arthur SMITH born July 28, 1892 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada~died August 14, 1973 in Newport Richey, FL. Parents of James Arthur are Rebecca Angelique (Jane or Jenny) DECOSTE of Harve Boucher, Nova Scotia, Canada and George SMITH of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Her mother was Mildred Elsie THOMAS, born, December 23, 1895, Stanley New Brunswick, Canada~died December 9, 1985, New Port Richey, FL. Parents of Mildred Elsie are Edgehill Ireton THOMAS born in Green Hill, New Brunswick, Canada October 1 1872~died Framingham, MA, November 25, 1941. Edgehill Married Bernice GROVER born August 1874 in Stanley, New Brunswick, Canada. Both of my mother's parents were basically orphaned by their biological parents and raised by relatives in Canada, Maine and Massachusetts. There is little oral history as people of those times kept their "private lives", private. While we have many suspicions, we have no real facts about these ancestors or their lives...only what little information has been gleaned from census records, citizenship papers, birth certificates etc. If you have any information to add to this webpage, please contact me at the email address at the bottom of the page.
