Arthur L. Martin Stone Mountain,Ga 30087 770 469 3304 | Robert Martin, Sgt. was born Dublin Ireland 1747, he came to America on a ship with two brothers in March 1766 they landed at Charleston, S. C. March 31 1766. I was told by my great aunt, the ships name was "Bounty". I have not confirmed this, and I do not know the names of the two brothers. Robert Martin was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He also sold horses to the Colonial govt. for which he was never paid. When the British came to Charleston, he moved his family to Union District, S. C. When the British left, he moved his family back to Charleston. James Martin b. 1788 the 3rd son of Sgt. Robert Martin m Easter Bogan and in 1821 moved to Georgia near Shady Dale and in 1831 Moved to Randolph County, Ga. He was the first white man to settle in the fifth district of Randolph County about 12 miles south of Cuthbert, Ga. Many of his descendants still live in the area. Some of the surnames of our kin are, Truitt, Saxon, Farrar, Ferguson, Grubbs, and others by marriage.
