John Alden (son of George Alden and Jane) was born 1599 in Southampton, Hampshire, England/Southampton, England, and died September 22, 1687 in Duxbury, Plymouth, Massachusetts. He married Priscilla Mullins on May 12, 1622 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, daughter of William Mullins and Alice Atwood.

"John Alden was hired for a cooper at South Hampton, wher the ship victuled, and being a hopfull young man, was much desired, but left to his own liking to go or stay when he came here; but he stayed and maryed here."
He was the seventh signer of the "Mayflower Compact" in Provincetown Harbor.
In 1621 he married Priscilla Mullins, daughter of William and Alice Mullins, all of whom came to America on the "Mayflower."
He took an active part in the affairs of Plymouth Colony. He was one of the founders of the town of Duxbury, Mass. He was a member under arms of Captain Myles Standish's Duxbury Company in 1643; Assistant to each Governor of the Colony from 1633 to 1641, and from 1650 to 1686; Representative to the General Court from 1641 to 1649; member of the Council of War from 1653 to 1660 and 1675 to 1676, and Treasurer of Plymouth Colony from June 3, 1656 to 1659.
John Alden lived at Eagle Tree Pond, about two miles north of Captain's Hill, Duxbury.
"John Alden maried with Priscila, Mr. Mollines his doughter, and had issue by her as is before related."
He was the last surviving signer of the "Compact."
He died in Duxbury, Mass., Sept. 12, 1687.
