Notes for C
LOVIS CLARK SADLER:
The day after, I, DeCody Brad Marble interviewed Bevie T. Sadler Butler, granddaughter to John Wesley Sadler, in June 1987 at the Senior Citizens Home, "Golden Oats" at Lafeyette, Tennessee; I meet with and exchange genealogy notes with Clovis Sadler. Clovis was living at 315 Valley View Village, Glasgow, KY.

Clovis had traveled through Jackson County, interviewing many Sadler descendants and had compiled data on the descendants of Henry Sadley Sadler. My data was basically compiled from the U.S. Census and tombstone inscriptions. Clovis and Moena Sadler lived on top of a big hill in Glasgow. When I entered one large room, (I believe it was a dining room serving as a library), paperwork and files were scattered across the table. In the corner were a microfiche machine and a xerox photocopier. Thus with aid of such equipment, our exchange of genealogy data was expedient. I was very impressed. If my memory serves me well, I believe Clovis owned the Radio Station in Glasgow, KY. at that time.

ONNA MAE SADLER:
Prior to her position at Lermon Bros Store, Donna had worked for her husband, both in Edenton, North Carolina and Columbia, Kentucky. She was a member of the Lebanon Methodist Church.

There was a long procession of Lebanon, Kentucky citizens outside Bosley Funeral Home, waiting to pay respects to Mrs. Donna Roberts of Lerman Bros Store. Approximately, 650 people signed her memorial records; a tribute to obviously a liked and respected individual. Grandmother Roberts would mail the largest box of clothes at Christmas to her widowed daughter, Thera Mae Marble in Ashland, Ohio to help clothe the three grandsons. She sent generous gifts at Easter, also. The grandsons, the three Marble boys childhood memories; include sitting on grandmother Roberts' large front porch, catching June bugs and fire flies on Kentucky hot summer nights.

THEODORE WILLIAM ROBERTS IN MEMORIAM
"Jet black hair with light blue eyes"
Formally, a department store manager for Roses, Kresge, Newberry, in Edenton, North Carolina went into business with D. B. Lilies (a former jewelry merchant). In Columbia, Kentucky Theodore went into business for himself (Roberts 5-10-25¢ Store). This store was destroyed by fire on Christmas Eve 1944. The article "Flames Swept Business Block" appears in the Adair County Newspaper on 3 January 1945.
A Mason, Theodore was a faithful Methodist for years in Edenton, Madison, and Carthage, North Carolina; and later in Columbia and Lebanon, Kentucky. His daughter, Thera Mae Roberts remembers especially his playing Santa Claus for the Edenton Methodist Episcopal Church in the 1930s. Although, he was often transferred, he managed to secure work during the depression and gave his family a fairly decent way of life.
In October 1964, Grandpa Theodore Roberts came to visit his daughter Thera and his grandsons: DeCody Brad, Kenton Randall, and Duane Brett Marble in Ashland, Ohio. He had just visited his son Theodore "Ted" William Jr. in Lebanon, Kentucky. During his week visit, Grandpa Roberts took his grandsons for a ride in his Volkswagen and bought pastries at the bakery. After his departure for Illinois, Thera and the grandsons discussed how much time it took Grandpa to climb up the staircase and the smell of muscle ointment from his person. The following month, Grandpa Theodore Roberts died of lung cancer. He had known of his serious ailment and had visited his loved ones for the last time.
