Notes for PHILLIP MICHAEL: "They (Phillip and Sarah) both are buried at Edgar, NE. Phillips and his parents were among the first settlers in Nuckolls county. Their homesteads were one and 1/2 miles east of Angus, Nebraska. Phillip was an indian scott(scout) in the early days of Nebraska history. Notes for HANNAH MATILDA KINCANNON: "Hannah came to Nebraska when 11 years old in a covered wagon with her parents. They crossed the Missouri River at Nebraska City on a ferry. They came to the John Duncan homestead. The home was a log cabin located on the Oxbow three miles north of Nelson, Nebraska. John Duncan's wife Mary Susan (Applebee) Duncan was Hannah Kinnison's cousin, the daughter of Susan (Palmer) Applebee, a sister of Francis Elizabeth (Palmer) Kincannon. They arrived in Nuckolls County May 5, 1874 after 21 days of traveling from Boscabel, Wisconsin. "Henry and Hannah celebrated their golden wedding anniversary December 25, 1932 at their home where they had lived continuously for the fifty years of wedded life. "After Henry's death Hannah moved to Angus where she lived until shortly before her death when she moved to her daughters, Mabel and husbands home where she died of cancer. "Hannah was a member of the United Brethern Church from childhood. She also was a member of the Royal Neighbors and the Rebekah's." --The Kinnisons Family History--1969 pg 10 |

Notes for WILLIAM HENRY KINNISON: "Died January 6, 1933 at home where he lived for the fifty years of married life." "Henry left Ohio when 13 years of age. He went to Springfield, Illinois. There he worked for Mr. WILLEY who later came to Edgar, Nebraska and settled two miles south and 1/2 mile west of Edgar. Henry followed in 1876 and worked for the same man for sometime. "He traveled to Hannibel, MO where he caught the Hannibel & St. Joe, at St. Joe he took the Kansas City and Denver (later the St. Joe & Grand Island) to Edgar. In 1876 he was herding cattle, his corral was 1 1/2 miles south of what was later his home. The range was from the corral to Coy (later Sedan). He was out with the herd one day when a traveler came by and informed him of the Custer massacre on the Little Big Horn in Montana. "His first farm was the South East Quarter, Section 23, Township 4, Range 6, Nuckolls County, Nebraska. He and Hannah held title to a considerable amount of land in Nuckolls and Jefferson counties in Nebraska and near Garden City, Kansas. "He helped to organize the Nuckolls County Telephone and the Angus State Bank. He was a stockholder in both companies. Also an official in both. He built first a three room house and in 1894 enlarger it to eight rooms where he lived the rest of his life. He died of pneumonia. "He was a member of the Modren Woodman of America. At one time he and six of his sons were a team in the Angus Lodge. He was also a member of the odd Fellows at Angus." --The Kinnisons Family History--1969 pg 10 |
