This home page has been started in the hope that it will serve as a modern and ever evolving family bible. We are continuing to research and will update as time permits. Anybody willing to assist in the gathering of family information in any way should contact us by e-mail. We are always delighted to receive any new information or simply to hear from potential or distant cousins !
In July 2006 we spent three weeks in Italy and managed to contact relatives both known and unknown to us before. The Commune in Castel Nouovo di Garfagnana was particularly helpful allowing us to view, transcribe and photograph a 'Foglio di Familia' which contained information on three generations of 'RIGHINIS'(Victor's mother's family from Tuscany), two of which we previously had no information on!!
Access to US Immigration Records in 2006 helped fill in some missing links in the Marrone, Righini, Davidson and McDicken lines.
The other main sources have been the International Genealogical Index (IGI), Scotland's People website, Rootsweb, Census information for Scotland, England and Wales for 1841-1901 from the Ancestry site, Free BDM, Free CEN and latterly Free REG.
Many Thanks to:- Jane Paterson, who is unrelated to the family but a great source of help and inspiration in the search. Barrie Black for all the research he did on the family in Edinburgh in the 1990s and thus providing the starting point. Fiona Cunningham (M.S. Mackie)for the information on the Cunningham/Mackie family. Lynne Robertson and her father for the info regarding her GGrandfather, Alexander Davidson and his descendents. Bill and Ann Cunningham for the anecdotal info on the McDicken and Davidson family and the priceless family photos. Mel Fletcher, B.C. Canada, for the McDicken info, particularly the copy of the Scots Ancestry Research Report (1964),the family notes which included the info relating to the descendents of Moses McdDICKEN b 1871 in Canada/USA as well as info on all his siblings. The McDicken Family Scroll which Mel has scanned and sent in sections is fascinating if not complete or entirely accurate!!! Sharie Biller(MS Robertson, B.C. Canada, and her father for the info again relating to Moses. Marie Blafour(MS Lindsay)for the info relating to the Mary McDicken connection. Contact from a distant cousin Martha Walmesley in New Jersey has meant the addition of many 'McDicken' relatives. Sylvia Emmett for the information on Janet Armour McDicken and the resultant 'Smith' family. Contact from John Todd and Fiona Allen has added extra information on the Eaglesham family branch. Geoff Parrish for all his work in collating the Parrish family info and helping to piece together the Walter trail. Also to Anita Barnwell and Gillian Parker with their information on some of the Parrish family descendants. Jane Rummey has also been of great help with the Izzard Family link. John Schloeffel whose contact, in March 2008, opened a whole new link to the Targett family link. John Peter Sipp, New York, for his help in 2009 in tracing the DAVIDSON cousins on both sides of the Atlantic.
Any extra information, corrections, questions or comments would be welcomed.
